Ambergate caravan crime
Thieves who stole a car and caravan from outside a house in Ambergate were the subject of a police chase involving dog units and the police helicopter on Thursday night.
They broke through electric gates at a property in Midland Terrace some time between 10pm and 11.40pm. But as they drove along the A6, they were spotted by a police officer who followed the car and caravan as far as Little Eaton.
Two people abanadoned the car on Woodlands Close and ran off. Dog units were deployed and the helicopter, which had been grounded by the fog, later took off to help in the search.
A young man was later arrested on suspicion of theft on Rigger Lane at around 12.20am.
