Belated panto appearance for Rubee

A little girl from Langley Mill who missed out on an appearance in the Ripley and Heanor News has had her wish granted.

Rubee Patrick, seven, was due to appear in a picture of Aldercar Infants School’s nativity play which this year was inspired by the popular television show Strictly Come Dancing.

But moments before our photographer Brian Eyre took the shot of the youngsters in their costumes, poor Rubee was accidentally poked in the eye by a little boy dressed up as Bruce Forsythe.

Rubee, who impersonated compere Tess Daley, was distraught, said mum Dawn.

“She was so upset that she wasn’t going to be in the paper,” added Dawn. “I said don’t worry it’s only a newspaper but I thought I would call and ask to see if she could appear.”

So in response to Dawn’s very nice letter, here’s a belated picture of Rubee, wowing the crowds at the nativity play with a dancing twist.
