Memory box for grieving parents
The friends of a Ripley couple whose daughter was stillborn have helped raise nearly £2,000 for charity with a sponsored bike ride and tombola days.
In March Jason and Luanne Hunt lost daughter Ellie Georgia who was stillborn at 32 weeks at the Royal Derby Hospital.
Luanne said: “The staff gave us a memory box to use as a keepsake to remember Ellie.
“It was such a shock to go through what we did but the hospital were very supportive and we found the box to be very comforting.
“After telling this story to my friend Claire Craig she decided to raise some money for Derby Stillbirth & Neonatal Death Charity (SANDS) by holding a Tombola day at Bakewell Showground on September 9.”
41-year-old Jason and five pals set off on a sponsored bike ride for SANDS, leaving Ripley Market Place at 7.15am on Saturday, September 29 and arrived in Skegness at 1.30pm, covering 90 miles in total.
Luanne, 41, of Heage Road, added: “We would like to thank everyone who has donated including our friends and family, work colleagues at HCM Electrical and Futures Housing Group, customers at The Deli, Rolls-Royce and my mum Beryl for visiting all the neighbours.”
