Scouts prepare for special anniversary
As Belper Scout Group prepares to celebrate its golden anniversary, we hark back to one of the earliest pictures of the group. From just eight Wolf Cubs and three Leaders in 1964, the group now has almost 80 members in the Beaver, Cub and Scout sections. This picture shows 4th Belper on a St George’s Day parade through Belper roundabout in 1965.
To mark their 50 years the group will be holding a celebration service at the Central Methodist Church on Mothering Sunday, March 10, starting at 10.45am.
They have already been in touch with Jenny Stanistreet nee Bryan, oneof the early Cub Leaders, but would like to hear from anybody who was associated with the Cubs or Scouts in those early years – especially as a Leader or a youngster. Please contact the Group Scout Leader on 07977 884630.
