Pinxton gun show and tell

Youngsters at a junior school in Pinxton had a show and tell with a difference last week following a visit from armed police officers.

Officers from Derbyshire Constabulary’s Armed Response Unit visited pupils at Kirkstead Junior School on Thursday, January 17. They gave a talk to the children about their role and showed them some of the equipment they used. The visit was set up to tie in with the youngsters’ current topic on crime and justice. PCSO Vicky Hill set up the talk.

She said: “We regularly visit local schools to talk to pupils, but with them currently learning about crime and justice, we thought it would be a good opportunity to find out about other aspects of policing.“The youngsters really enjoyed the visit and had the chance to ask questions, which I hope will be useful to them as part of their studies.”
