Madam, MB Gent states that he was shocked at Cllr Blake's comments regarding the monstrous block building towering over the village of Heage (Belper News 31/03/10).
Well, I'm sorry to say that he shouldn't have been.
Recently, the residents of Ripley were sent a questionnaire asking for their views on a proposed increase in Council Tax.
The council received replies from 112 people saying they were against the idea and 106 who were in favour. Cllr Blake remarked that "...the support wasn't as big as we expected".
So was the proposed increase scrapped?
No, it went ahead regardless. It appears that the views of the electorate are to be sought, but not respected.
