This year's Belper Music Festival promises to be better than ever.
It is held between June 27 and June 29 at Belper Rugby Club.

Topping the bill will be one of the UK's most widely known Cajun bands, R Cajun and the Zydeco Brothers, who are widley acknowledged as the pioneering force that has inspired many other
bands to make this exciting brand music.

The band even appeared at the wedding of Linda and Paul McCartney.
Next up on the Saturday will be theLoscoe State Opera, who are set to delight and amaze with their well known brand of rough house tunes, filled with sledge-hammer guitars and howling renditions of traditional tunes.

Giving the crowd a touch of continental craziness, will be The Incontinentals, a manic and highly entertaining group based in France.

They play only five 'real' instruments – mandolin, banjo, guitars and trombone – which are supported by a motley collection of recycled kitchen, garden and toilet objects, which together with the washboard form the percussion section.

Tom Doughty promises to be a festival treat. Tom blends considerable skills, artistry and that elusive mix of sound, expression and feeling that only a few seem to be able to conjure up.

Other acts on Saturday will include Pig Dyke Molly, Hedgepig, The Dooberries, Radio Mary and Lick Squid.

For those arriving on the Friday the acts include Wholesome Fish, Ylem, Amy Notman and Captain Plastic.

The weekend will include camping, real ale and stalls.

A spokesman said the small, friendly event was set right in the town centre in a beautiful green location with easy access by car, bus or foot.

The organisers said they had to battle the elements last year after torrential rain flooded the festival site to a depth of 4ft.

They nevertheless managed to hold a very successful 'one night only event', which saw over 150 people supporting a reduced line-up.
