Twelve locally produced beers will be showcased at a beer festival at The Lion Hotel, Belper which takes place this weekend, from May 2 to 5.
Centred on the newly refurbished courtyard, the event is running over the May Day Bank Holiday weekend.

Beer miles will be kept to a minimum by using some of the finest beers from local breweries, with the number of beer miles travelled noted on
each ale.

As at the well-received festival in January, award winning Ripley brewery Amber Ales is again prominent.

Their Original Black Stout recently won a national bronze medal at the Society Of Independent Brewers awards, making it one of the top three
in the country as voted by the brewers.

Amongst other brewers represented will be Chesterfield's Spire brewery, Nutbrook from West Hallam and Derby's Headless Brewing Company.
Beers featured will be new or current seasonal brews.

Deputy general manager of The Lion Hotel on Bridge Street, John Wilders said: "We like to support quality local businesses whenever we can.

"It makes sense because our customers like it, it supports the local community, and reduces our impact on the environment".

Opening on Friday night, the event features a hog roast during the day until 9pm, live entertainment on Saturday evening and a 'drink-up'
