Let the music play by the riverside

This month sees the continuation of the summer season of musical events at Belper's River Gardens.
More than 30 different will have eventually performed on Sunday afternoons having started last month and ending on August 31, thanks to the Friends of Belper River Gardens and Amber Valley Borough Council, with financial support from Belper Town Coun
cil.

A mix of music styles will include brass bands, as well as jazz, country and western and folk.. There will be concerts throughout this month, including on Sunday, July 13 when Silver Sax and Ashover Band will perform. On July 27 Hoipoiloy and Pete Castle will play.

Next month there will Pantastics Steel Band and Mark Lilley on August 10.

Heage Windmillers and Meresga's Desert Image will play on August 24.

The season ends on August 31 with a special promenade concert from 2pm
and the Last Night of the Proms starting at 6pm.

Friends chairman Les Dorey said: "We again worked very hard to make this a really varied season of music to suit all tastes.

"We just hope people will turn out and make the most of these free events – it will give them a chance to appreciate what a very special venue we have in Belper's unique River Gardens."

Restoration work for the gardens, funded by Amber Valley Borough Council, is expected to begin once the summer concert season has ended.
