The seventh Bakewell International Day Of Dance is to be held in the town on Saturday, June 27.
A total of 24 dance groups will take to the streets of Bakewell, performing at six outdoor venues on a continuous rolling programme, starting at 11.30am and finishing at 4.30pm. Most of the groups will give a demonstration of their particular style a
nd then go through a few basic steps with the audience.
From clog to contemporary, swing to Greek, Appalachian to Armenian, plus lots more besides, there will be something to suit just about all tastes.
Either sit back, watch and enjoy, or join in and have a go. If you are looking for something more structured, there will be four taster dance workshops, running between 11.30am and 2pm, including French, klezmer, contemporary (13 – 18yrs.) and salsa.
Either, ring to book a place, or just turn up on the day. The workshops will be held at the Town Hall and are £2 each.
To round off the day, there is a grand family ceilidh to which all are welcome.
Come and enjoy the foot tapping rhythms of the Down Trodden String Band. It will start at 8pm and be held at the Town Hall.
Tickets for this are £6 and £4, and can be bought from Bakewell Bookshop, the Information Tent on the day (next to the Peacock Pub), on the door or ring 01629 815469 or 813209.
