A memorable evening of music and fireworks comes to Calke Abbey next month – and we have two pairs of tickets to give away.
The Calke Abbey Proms Spectacular is a fabulous open air party with a good excuse to dress up and have fun as well as enjoy a picnic in a magical setting.
The event, on Saturday August 9, is now in its fifth year and is firmly established as one o
f the 'must see' events in the region.
The Proms is sponsored by the UK's premium ice cream specialist, Carte D'Or, as part of a national 2008 Summer Proms and Smooth series.
The evening begins with a dramatic aerial display by an original Second World War Spitfire to the music of the Dambusters by The English National Orchestra.
Conductor Jae Alexander takes centre stage with star soprano Janet Mooney and principle tenor from the Welsh National Opera – Wynne Evans.
Together they will be performing some of the best loved arias ever written alongside more traditional proms favourites and themes from the movies.
The evening culminates in a glittering flag-waving frenzy and fireworks finale.

Gates open at 5pm and the concert performance will begin at 7.30pm and end at approx 10.15pm
The Proms is picnic-style so concert-goers are invited to take their own food and drink, chairs and rugs. Additional refreshments will be available. No gazebos are permitted.
Free parking is provided on site and special provision is made for disabled parking.
