FAMILY fun will be on the agenda in Crich at the Briars annual open day.
The Briars Residential Youth Centre will be opening its doors on Sunday, June 29, and hosting a day of attractions and outdoor activities.

Briars director Fr Joe Wheat said: “Over the years we have always held the event in May and have on occasion suffered from the weather; last year took place in a monsoon. By moving it to the end of June, we can hopefully enjoy more of a ‘high summer feel.”

Set in the Derbyshire Dales, The Briars is the residential youth retreat centre for the Roman Catholic Diocese of Nottingham.

Opened in 1969, it has come to be regarded as one of the foremost facilities of its kind.

Fr Joe said: “This is our only opportunity during the year to be able to raise money for the Centre. It is also one of the few times when we get to see some of the thousands of people who visit us.”

It is open from 1pm to 5pm.
