Madam,
So, Mr Vardy would like us to get off our seats and let him know our views about bulky refuse collections and fly-tipping (Postbag, November 21).

My view is that he should get off his own seat and push off out of the way, his remarks are both insu
lting and impractical.

Fly-tipping is like vandalism.

It does not just go away because there is a local tip.

Mr Vardy seems to regard councillors as his personal servants, running around doing as he wants.

They are in fact public servants with a duty to represent the views of everyone not just one person who thinks that they and they alone have the right answer.

Every service provided has to be paid for somewhere along the line and another local tip or 'free' bulky collection service is unlikely to be financially viable.

His view that the collection charge for bulky items is exorbitant is a matter of opinion.

If he paid someone to collect his fridge or sofa instead of demanding that the council do it, then he would learn just how expensive it is.
Whilst he's about it, I politely suggest he goes with it and give us all a rest.
