Madam,
If I may please be permitted, I wish to try to pay a full tribute to the dedicated staff at Babington rehabilitation hospital, Belper, for all the care extended to myself during the past 14 weeks.
I went there following a serious accident which had required surgery at the Derbyshire Royal Infirmary.

During that time I became friendly with all of the care staff, mostly on christian name terms.

I can truthfully say that nothing appeared to
be too much trouble for them to undertake on behalf of patients.

This despite of a little irritability on our part, from time to time!

It is tempting to endeavour to name them individually, which would be thoroughly deserved but fear my memory might just let me down!

Suffice it perhaps to say that I find it most satisfactory to be able to largely confound the many critics who seem to derive a certain type of pleasure from finding fault with our NHS, often one suspects, with little first hand experience.

So, very many sincere thanks are due to everyone concerned; I find your so obvious spirit of service quite uplifting.

Thanks are also due to our political leaders who try to surmount the many barriers placed in their paths as regards improving the service.

However, inevitably, there remains huge scope for cutting down on some wastage, thereby increasing efficiency.

The Garden Party arranged for Saturday, June 14 at Babbington might be an ideal opportunity for me to re-visit my newly acquired extended family but it may not be possible.

Be that the case then the anticipated treat must go on hold.

Mr R E Boyes
