Bandwise 2012, featuring local young musicians at the Albert Hall, Nottingham

OVER 200 young instrumentalists from all over the East Midlands will rehearse for the first time in three bands on February 25-26, ahead of performing in public just one week later at Nottingham’s Albert Hall on Sunday, March 4.

Young players aged between 8 and 21 from all parts of Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire and Lincolnshire will be taking part. All band instruments are included such as flutes, oboes, clarinets, bassoons, saxophones, horns, trumpets, cornets, trombones, euphoniums, tubas, and percussion. All levels of ability are catered for, from beginners to advanced players.

The music they will be playing has everything from The Best of Glee to well known classical pieces, plus a range of fringe activities, including flute, clarinet and brass ensembles and a jazz band.

The players do their own preparation at home, using a Music for Everyone coaching CD, so they make amazing progress when they all come together.

Nottingham-based Music for Everyone has been running this very popular annual Bandwise event for over ten years, with specialist instrumental teachers and an organisational team. Feedback from Bandwise 2011 was more enthusiastic than ever.
