Star soloist to play with NSO
Nottingham Symphony Orchestra’s second concert in their 2012-2013 season is at the Albert Hall in Nottingham on Saturday, March 16, from 7.30pm, and will be conducted by Derek Williams.
The three pieces in the programme are the La Peri Fanfare by Paul Dukas, Elgar’s Violin Concerto and Beethoven’s Third Symphony, the Eroica.
Dukas wrote his ‘dance poem’ La Peri in 1910 but, fearful that audience members would talk over the work’s extremely quiet opening, he wrote, at very short notice, an attention-grabbing fanfare, which remains one of his best known pieces.
Star violinist Chloe Hanslip will join forces with NSO for the concerto.
Now 25, Chloe was a child prodigy who started playing the instrument at the age of just two and has gone to great acclaim in recent years as an in-demand soloist.
Beethoven’s Third Symphony is universally popular and is a guaranteed crowd-pleaser that is not to be missed.
