HARD work and effort has earned recognition for a group of young drama students in Belper.
Twenty-four youngsters from the Learning Through Drama group have been awarded the bronze arts award, a scheme run by the Arts Council for young people aged between 11 and 25.

The group of ten and 11 year olds was one of the youngest groups in the country to take the award.

To earn the award, which has been described as the Duke of Edinburgh award for the arts, the children had to teach a drama workshop, go and see an arts event and produce a project on an influential arts figure.

Course leader Hettie Beetham said: “I’m very proud of them. It’s absolutely brilliant. The moderator was really impressed because the kids were so young.”

Today's Vote

What do you think of the government's plans to axe free swimming for children and elderly people?
I think it's ridiculous
It's fair enough if it didn't have the uptake they expected.
I don't care. It doesn't affect me.
