Richard Manning from Belper is flying high after recently graduating from a prestigious Royal Air Force college.
Richard, 24, graduated as a Flying Officer after completing Initial Officer Training (IOT) Course No 9 at RAF College Cranwell, near Sleaford, Lincolnshire.

The Band of the Royal Air Force Regiment provided the music as the 113 graduates paraded outside College Hall in front of Air Vice-Marshal Richard Garwood Air Officer Commanding No 22 (Training) Group.

During the parade there were flypasts by Tornado GR4 aircraft from No XIII Squadron, RAF Marham in Norfolk and Tucano T1 aircraft from No 72 (R) Squadron, RAF Linton-on-Ouse in Yorkshire.

Richard, whose parents Alan and Susan still live at Belper, attended Belper School before graduating from the University of Hull with a BSc in Biology.

He joined the RAF in September last year and will soon begin his professional training as a pilot.

A keen sportsman, he enjoys football, swimming and playing cricket for Belper Meadows Cricket Club.
