BELPER'S newest supermarket opened its doors at the weekend.
Haldanes, which has taken over the running of the former Somerfield supermarket on King Street, officially opened to the public on Saturday, January 30.

All 54 staff who worked at the Somerfield store have been retained in the new shop, which is only the second of the brand to open in the UK.
Manager James Wiswould said; "The first weekend went amazingly.

"We had really good, positive customer feedback. It was very busy."

The chain, which has the motto 'refreshingly local', prides itself on serving fresh local produce to local people and becoming a part of the community.
