A BIG black cat has been spotted at the Chevin.
Guy Beston and his wife Patsy spotted the animal on Wednesday night whilst out for a walk down an old track.

Mr Beston said: "We were heading back towards the car, off the Chevin and it stopped in the middle of the track.

"It was smaller than a Labrador dog and totally black. It stood sideways to us, looked at us and then slinked off into the undergrowth.

"It had a long sweeping tail down to the floor."

The unidentified creature was just 50 yards away from the Mansfield couple before it got dark at around 7pm.

Mr Beston added: "It was a lot bigger than an ordinary cat."
