There were some colourful characters at this year's Duffield Carnival.
With a Medieval theme the event at Eyes Meadow proved to be as popular as ever.

Groups and organisations, including thewomen's institute joined in the fun as well as local schools, with an assortment of outfits from jesters to fair maidens.

Derek Cook, from Duffield Community Association and carnival committee, said: "It's been one of the best carnivals for some time. We couldn't hold it last year because of the floods and people were looking forward to it more.

"The crowd was one of the biggest we've had for some time and we had a lot of praise for the layout of the ground which we changed.

"The afternoon acts were also well received."
