A HOLIDAY romance transformed the lives of Margaret and Fred Parker when they met in 1947.
The pair, of Over Lane, bumped into each other when they were staying the same hotel in Blackpool, and never looked back.

After 60 happy years of marriage the couple still enjoy going on trips, but now they go togther.

Margaret and Fred, who used to work in the building trade, also like to
do crosswords, play scrabble and cheer on Derby County together.

The duo, both 82, have two children, five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren due in the next couple of months. The family will join them to celebrate their anniversary on Thursday, March 4.

Margaret, who is originally from North Wingfield, said: "I can't believe we're celebrating 60 years.

It's a great thing. A lot of it has been give and take. We argue, but we never go to bed on an argument."

Today's Vote

What do you think of the government's plans to axe free swimming for children and elderly people?
I think it's ridiculous
It's fair enough if it didn't have the uptake they expected.
I don't care. It doesn't affect me.
