A farmhouse in Horsley Woodhouse will be bulldozed to make way for new houses if planning permission is granted.
The development set for Horsley Woodhouse Farm on Main Street will see the demolition of all the existing buildings to make way for 14 new houses being built by Warwickshire firm Roxdan Developments Ltd.

The plans for the site, a former tannery, w
ill also include a new access road off Main Street.

The farmhouse is currently still occupied by farmer Trevor Askey and will continue as a farm.

Mr Askey said he was happy with the plans and it would not affect his cattle farming business as another farmhouse would be build to accommodate the family on the site.

The application was due to be discussed by Horsley Woodhouse Parish Council this week.

Cllr Eric Lancashire, chairman of the parish council said: "There are no problems with building houses there, it just depends how it's set out."

The site, which comprises an old farm, out buildings and an orchard was used for dairy farming until three years ago.

A bat survey has been carried out at the site and further assessment will be carried out this month. A decision will be made by the planning board of Amber Valley Borough Council on July 14.
