At more than two metres tall this sunflower stands almost twice the height of its owner Joanne Lenham.
The 11-year-old, of John O'Gaunts Way, proudly showed off the plant, which won her the title of top sunflower grower, in a competition run by the Friends of Belper Parks.

The competition was run by the group in a bid to raise awareness of the environment amnd encourage people to grown flowers. It was also part of the town's bid for the East Midlands in Bloom competition, which looked for young people in the area to get involved with planting and growing.

Joanne, who attends Pottery Primary School, was one of 229 children who entered the contest.

The competition was also held to raise money to buy seed for the wildflower meadow at the Park
