A STITCH in time may save nine but it will also save these youngsters money on Christmas and birthday presents.
This crafty crew will now be able to make hats, scarves, and bags, for family and friends after joining a knitting club at St John's Primary School, in Belper.

The lunchtime club has been set up by three teachers at the school – Mrs Wayne, Miss Phipps and Mrs Hodson.

The children begin by making a scarf, before moving on to more complicated projects.

So far they have made items including baby clothing and blankets for charity.

A spokesman for the school said: "The children thoroughly enjoy it, as do staff."

Today's Vote

What do you think of the government's plans to axe free swimming for children and elderly people?
I think it's ridiculous
It's fair enough if it didn't have the uptake they expected.
I don't care. It doesn't affect me.
