A Duffield pensioner has died after a two-car collision.
The 84-year-old man's Honda Jazz collided with a Volkswagen Passat at the junction of New Zealand Lane and Broadway, in Duffield.

Emergency teams were called to the scene at about 4.30pm on Tuesday, March 9.

The man was taken to the Royal Derby Hospital, where he later died.

Police have appealed for any witnesses to come forward.

The pensioner, named by police as William Brownlee, had gone out to pick up a newspaper when the accident happened.

The pensioner died from injuries sustained at the scene, said a police spokesman.

Stretches of both roads were closed for more than four hours after the accident.

Today's Vote

What do you think of the government's plans to axe free swimming for children and elderly people?
I think it's ridiculous
It's fair enough if it didn't have the uptake they expected.
I don't care. It doesn't affect me.
