CRICH Tramway Village, home of the National Tramway Museum, was transformed into 1950s Leeds last week for a new Kay Mellor drama filmed by the BBC.
The production used Leeds 180, a 1931 tram which originally ran in the streets of Leeds in the 1950s and has recently undergone a complete overhaul in the museum's restoration workshop.
The production, entitled A Passionate Woman, was written by Leeds-based Mellor and is loosely based on the life of her mother Betty, and is set in the 1950s and 1980s. The film will star Billie Piper, Sue Johnston and Alun Armstrong.
Commenting on the filming, Andrew Willis, marketing director at Crich said: "When the BBC approached us about the filming we were only too pleased to help.
"We not only have a genuine Leeds tram from the period but also an authentic street scene, it will really add authenticity to the film."
The filming took place on Sunday, November 15, which is just over 50 years after the closure of the original tram system in Leeds.
