Children and adults of all ages went along to Milford School Undercroft on Bank Holiday Monday to begin the process to make well dressings for the ceremony at the end of the week.

Milford and Makeney Well Dressing Group invited people along to puddle the clay to prepare it for the well dressing procession to be held on Saturday, May 10.

Clay puddling is the first step in making well dressings, which are a unique cultural aspect of Derbyshire.

The wet clay will be put into a wooden frame which will ten be adorned with a variety of seeds, nuts, cones, and eventually flower petals to make colourful pictures.

The Milford and Makeney Group has chosen 'environmental' to be this year's theme.

Workshops for the well dressings are running on Thursday and Friday from 10am to 12pm and 3pm to 5pm at the Milford Primarry School Undercroft.

The procession will start at 11am in The Mill House car park.
