Remembering our war heroes

Former soldiers and their families are getting ready to make the annual pilrgrimage to Crich War Memorial to honour fallen friends and comrades.
Members of the Sherwood Foresters and the Worcestershire and Sherwood Foresters regiments who lost their lives in all wars since the First World War will be commemorated by the ceremony on Sunday, July 6.

Among those remembered will be Drummer Thomas Wright, of Ripley, who was killed in Afghanistan last year.

His name, along with others killed in the past year, will be inscribed on the memorial and unveiled as part of the ceremony.

The Annual Regimental Pilgrimage will be held at the memorial, at the summit of Crich Hill, at 3pm.

It will be led by Acting Colonel of the Sherwood Forester's regiment, Brigadier A R D Sharpe OBE and the service of commemoration will be led by the Right Reverend A Porter, Bishop of Sherwood.
