A successful school athletics team was pipped at the post in the Derbyshire County finals last week.
Sporty students at Herbert Strutt Primary School were part of the Amber Valley athletics squad which missed out on the top spot by just four points when they took part in the games, which took place in Derby.

Youngsters from Denby Free School were also in the squad, which represented the entire borough of Amber Valley. Children in Years Five and Six took part.

Herbert Strutt PE teacher Damian Banks said: "We've won in Amber Valley for three years, I was pleased the team had a challenge. They performed really well."

Today's Vote

What do you think of the government's plans to axe free swimming for children and elderly people?
I think it's ridiculous
It's fair enough if it didn't have the uptake they expected.
I don't care. It doesn't affect me.
