GOOD weather graced the Horsley Woodhouse Carnival last weekend, as everything fell into place for a successful day.
The 32nd annual carnival, on Saturday, July 19, was opened by Janet Birkin, chairwoman of Derbyshire Police Authority before a procession, including fancy dress, took place.

The wheelbarrow and passenger race was a success, with around 30 people taking part.

The day acted as a venue for the Carnival Band competition, supported by the Carnival Band Secretaires League. Five bands competed and the overall winner was Derby Midshipman.

Organiser Eric Lancashire said: "Everything went so smoothly, there were no delays all day. There was a tremendous atmosphere and everything just clicked together. It was a marvellous day."
