The wait is finally over for hundreds of teenagers who collected their A-Levels results this morning, with students in Belper queuing bright and early this morning in anticipation.
Nationally, the percentage of students obtaining top grades is slightly down on last year, with the national pass rate remaining steady.
But Belper School is one establishment bucking this trend, boasting a higher percentage of top grades. Overall 62.4 per cent of pupils at the school achieved 3 A* - C grades - an increase of 14.8 per cent on last year.
Robyn Houghton, 18, from Belper was awarded three A*s in Economics, Maths and Art and will be studying at Liverpool University.
She said: “When I found out I got into university first thing this morning on the internet I cried and then when I got to school to check my results, I phoned up my mum and she cried. So it’s been quite emotional.”
