AN ARTIST from Belper is hosting an exhibition of her new work at a gallery in Nottingham.
Sara Brighty is holding the solo exhibition at The Crocus Gallery from Friday, August 12 until Saturday, August 27.
She has exhibited her work locally, nationally and internationally and is now ready to unveil her most recent series of paintings.
Sara said: “I have created a body of work that reflects how we live and interact today, conveying with passion my own mood and views.
“My new work is a series of abstract paintings entitled collectively as ‘Impossible Sky’. They have been created by my observations of people, their differences, conflicts and endeavours for resolution.
“I produce work that challenges both myself and the viewer creatively and philosophically.
“My paintings have been created mainly through expressive mark making, rather than being directly representational.
“Working from photographs I have taken, or my own images and sketches, these snapshots of everyday life have been used as a starting point for my paintings.”
Sara graduated from Sunderland University in 2008 with a BA Hons in Fine Art. The Crocus Gallery is open Tuesdays to Saturdays from 11am to 4pm.
