Belper bands go down a storm at Bearded Theory

A FESTIVAL supported by people and bands in Belper attracted more than 5,000 furry-faced revellers at the weekend.

Bearded Theory, which began as 250 people crammed into the Knockerdown pub near Carsington Water in 2007, this year took over the grounds of Kedleston Hall.

Last year the event raised funds for Belper’s Drop Inn Centre and bands with links to the town’s Soundhub record label again appeared - playing on the festival’s Waters Edge stage, which was managed by Drop Inn volunteer Shane ‘Jasper’ Husbands.

After Wheatus’s set on Sunday, many of the attendees took part in an annual world record attempt for getting the largest number of people wearing beards in one place.

See this Wednesday’s Belper News for a full report on the festival.
