the star attraction of Belper’s royal wedding celebrations was undoubtedly ‘Kate Middleton’ herself.

Not the 29-year-old who has married Prince William, but the slightly older version who attended a street party on Springwood Gardens in the town!

Belper’s own Kate, who would not admit her age but conceded she was a grandmother, was at the head of the table for the bash on her street last Friday.

The bash for the residents of Springwood Gardens also featured food, drink, bunting, royal paraphernalia and a variety of games to celebrate the big day.

Not far away, there was another street party. Town Mayor John Nelson was in attendance at the bash on Stanton Avenue.

Meanwhile, at Chucklebutties Play and Party Centre in Belper, youngsters and their families enjoyed an indoor street party to mark the occasion.

The party had an 1980s theme to commemorate the last big royal wedding — Prince Charles and Diana in 1981 — and children dressed in clothes from the decade, as well as some who dresses as a bride or groom.
