A man was found dead near Allestree park, following a major search operation involving a mountain rescue team, police search dogs and a helicopter.
The 40-year-old had been missing since Thursday night and his car had been found parked on Woodlands Road, near to the park.
A body matching the description of the missing person was discovered at around 4:30pm on Friday, August 10.
Police have said there do not appear to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding the death.
A spokesman for Derby Mountain Rescue Team said: “Unfortunately, on this occasion, a man matching the description of the person we were looking for was found deceased.
“We would like to pass on our condolences to the friends and family of the deceased man.”
Police called in mountain rescue due to the large area and dense woodland that comprise the area.
Twenty-seven members of the team, searched the area throughout the day on Friday.
It is the third time that the team have been deployed to search for missing persons close to Derby city within the last few weeks.
They were recently called to search Markeaton Park and also to search water courses running underneath the city centre the next day.
The spokesman continued: “It was another unusual operation for us, being so close to the city.
“But the type of terrain within the park meant that mountain rescue were best suited to searching the area. ”
