A NUMBER of bus routes in Belper are at the end of the road because of council cutbacks.
Derbyshire County Council has announced changes to three routes which will come into effect on Sunday, October 30.
All of the affected routes are on Sundays.
The number 6.1 buses at 6.38pm and 8.38pm from Matlock to Belper are no more, meaning the last bus on that route will now be at 4.38pm.
The last 6.1 bus from Belper to Matlock on a Sunday will be at 5.15pm, because the 7.15pm, 9.15pm and 11.15pm services are being withdrawn.
The 6.3 routes between Belper and Ripley are also affected. The 8.15pm and 10.15pm Belper-to-Ripley buses are being scrapped. The last bus will be at 6pm.
Also, the 8.37pm and 10.40pm services from Ripley to Belper are to be cancelled, meaning the 6.25pm bus is the last one.
And all 7.1 services, which take in Holbrook and Belper, on Sundays are being withdrawn.
A county council spokesman said: “These were difficult decisions to take but we had to make them because of the financial pressures facing the council. These services were chosen because they either have very low passenger numbers, are very expensive to run or duplicate other services.”
