Cash from the council

A CHARITY that specialises in respite care for disabled people and their carers is to receive a grant from Belper Town Council.

Vitalise applied to the authority for £129, which would help towards the service the organisation currently gives to five residents of Belper.

But, at a meeting of the town council last week, it was decided that £150 would be given to the charity instead.

The reason given for the extra cash was that the council had previously given £150 to Vitalise the last time it applied for a grant.

Clare Ellisdon, a statutory fundraiser for the charity, said the cash would go towards respite care breaks, covering things like travel costs, training and security checks.
