A Fairtrade awareness event has issued a plea to Belper firms to get involved in supporting producers in the developing world.
Traidcraft, The UK’s leading Fairtrade organisation is encouraging companies and individuals to get creative and help make a difference to the lives of smallholder farmers, by hosting a Traidcraft Big Brew coffee morning and knitting small holder ‘mug hugs’ for Fairtrade Fortnight.
Schools, churches, and other groups are also being urged to get involved in staging events – helping to raise vital funds.
There are around half a billion smallholder farmers across the world and some two billion people who are dependent on smallholdings for their livelihoods.
The event runs from February 25 until March 10.
