Slenderella group makes an acquisition
BELPER firm Slenderella has acquired former ‘giant of the quality warm underwear market’ Chilprufe.
After negotiations between Slenderella, of Queen Street, and representatives of the previous owners of Manchester Hosiery based in Hinckley, a deal was struck.
Group chairman Gary Spendlove said: “Following the growth of the Slenderella underwear business, the Chilprufe brand adds further prestige to the historic premier brands already in the company’s portfolio. Slenderella, Brettles, Vedonis, Walker Reid and Gaspé have expanded in recent years to enjoy success in the UK’s department stores and independent retail sector; 2011 also saw considerable growth in mail order and internet sales.
“The brand will enhance the interest of our export customers and distributors, states The Chilprufe brand is recognised in many countries and will feature in our plans to develop the Far East and American markets.”
Chilprufe underwear is available at the company retail outlet at Days Lane, Belper.
