Survey aims to cut red tape for firms

Firms in Belper are being urged to have their say as part of a survey designed to reduce the amount of red tape they face.

Derbyshire Chamber of Commerce launched the poll in an attempt to gauge how regulations impact on the competitiveness of local businesses.

The study comes after the Government announced it would be introducing a “one-in, two-out” rule from January 2013 which means that for every new regulation brought in which bears an additional cost, the surrounding bureaucracy must be cut back to save double this amount.

George Cowcher, Chief Executive of the chamber said: “This is another positive move by Government to reduce the amount of unnecessary red tape which holds back business growth and firms will appreciate that it is a step in the right direction.

“However, the chamber feels that more can still be done.”
