TWO businesses face a tense wait to find out if they have been successful in the 2012 Midlands Business Awards.

Ministry of Wool Ltd, from Duffield, and Chevin Fleet Solutions, from Belper, are up for honours and will be among 47 finalists competing in nine categories this Friday, February 3, in Birmingham.

Andrew Caughey, who runs Ministry of Wool Ltd, of Nether Close, has been shortlisted in the Midlands Entrepreneur of the Year title.

His business is the trading company for Armadillo Merino clothing, which provides protection and comfort for a variety of professional risk-takers, among them service personnel.

Andrew is up against four other contenders for the award.

Chevin Fleet Solutions, of Bridgefoot, is a finalist in the Service Provider category.

It has developed a web-based software application called FleetWave that allows companies to make the most efficient use of their vehicle fleets and benchmark them against others.

It is up against five others for the award.

Event spokesman Harj Sandher said: “We are really pleased with the response to the awards and this year’s ceremony will see record numbers attending.

“We are looking forward to finding out who will take the crown as the top performers in all the categories of the competition.

“The strength of the awards reflects the calibre of the companies and the individuals that are putting themselves forward.”
