despite considerable interest generated by recent visits from Dame Ellen MacArthur and Prince Edward, popular tourist attraction Heage Windmill has a problem.
The Chesterfield Road venue is in urgent need of volunteers to help ensure the mill keeps running smoothly.
Volunteer Alan Gifford said: “A key part of the volunteer group who run the mill is the Visitor Centre. Here all the visitors are received and assigned to groups for their mill tours. Refreshments and souvenirs are sold but, above all, everyone is made welcome. But due to illness and other reasons the group who carry out these tasks has become somewhat depleted. There is an urgent need for new people on the scene to help out.”
Full training is given for the role. Anyone interested should contact volunteer co-ordinator Lynn Allen on 01773 715177 or call in at the mill on any weekend between 11am and 4pm for more information.
