FIVE young aspiring chefs battled it out at Belper School for the chance to win a week at a cookery school in Italy.
They were taking part in a cooking competition at an open evening at the school on John O’Gaunts Way.
It had been organised by the Belper Rotary Club.
Pupils Emma Harcup, Chris Thomson, Devon Cassius, Cameron Hutchison and Laura Meier were the quintet to go before the judges ‘Masterchef’ style.
But there could only be one winner and that was Cameron, 15, who made paella and seasonal crumble.
He will now compete at regional finals next month with the aim of making it to the national Rotary final in London.
A Rotary spokesman said: “The judges commended all the entries, but especially the paella and seasonal crumble.”
