A Belper couple who began fundraising for a children’s cancer charity after their daughter was diagnosed with the disease could be set to smash the £9,000 mark next weekend.
Julian and Andrea Darke have been staging various fundraisers for Children with Cancer UK after their five-year-old daughter Megan was diagnosed with cancer in her spine in 2011.
Now, the Darke family are going to serve tea and coffee at a craft fair at the Masonic Hall in Belper on Saturday, November 9.
Friends are rallying to bake cakes and organiser Sue Wimbush has asked all the stallholders to provide a gift to raffle to raise extra funds.
The event runs from 10am - 3pm and includes stalls selling everything from jewellery to bags, cards, cupcakes, stained glass, sewn hand mades, crocheted items, embroidery and more.
At the end of August Julian and Andrea, along with five other friends, were sponsored by dozens of generous families to walk the 36 miles from Ladybower Reservoir to Belper, ending at the Devonshire Arms on Bridge Street.
