A COFFEE morning and book sale raised £155 towards a cross for a church in Little Eaton.
DVDs and videos were also on sale at the event, which was held at Little Eaton United Reformed Church on Alfreton Road.
Visitors tucked into home-made cakes and biscuits, with Rev Jane Barron, from the church, admitting to trying one or two herself.
Rev Barron, who has been at the church since October, said: “It went extremely well and we got a lot of people in. There was a lovely atmosphere.”
On the cross, Rev Barron said: “The building looks a bit like a house so a lot of people don’t know we’re here. I suggested we have a wooden cross made and put on top of the building.”
The church holds monthly events like this to raise money for the church or a charity. The next one is a lunch on March 17 between 12 midday and 2pm.
