RESTORATION work at an historic chapel in Belper has received a welcome cash boost from a county councillor.
Derbyshire councillor Chris Jackson went along to the monthly coffee morning at Belper Unitarian Chapel to present a cheque for £500.
The chapel, on Field Row, was built by Jedediah Strutt after he built his first mill in Belper. It helped create a community for his workers.
A spokeswoman for the chapel said: “The small congregation is continually working to keep the fabric of the building in good repair and this cheque will help to make the struggle a little easier.”
