a PUB in Heage has been praised after helping a charity raise £450 throughout 2010.

The Heage branch of the charity Action Medical Research has thanked the landlord and landlady, staff and customers of the village’s Black Boy pub for helping raise the cash during the year.

Dave Gunston and Angie Robinson, who run the village pub, sold jams and pickles throughout the year that were made and donated by Geoffrey and Janet Cowburn, of High Edge Drive in Heage.

The pub also raffled off a Christmas hamper packed with festive treats.

The money raised by the pub will now go into the medical charity’s funds.

It puts monies towards financing medical research into a wide range of diseases that affect the old, young, and everyone in between.
