A JUMBLE sale held by a women’s institute raised £278 for two charities.

Turnditch and Windley Women’s Institute (WI) held the event in aid of the Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Rutland Air Ambulance and the Safe and Sound charity, which supports vulnerable children and young people who are the victims of sexual exploitation and abuse.

The two are the WI’s chosen charities of the year.

Clothes, bric-a-brac, toys and games were sold at the jumble sale, which was held at the Crompton Inglefield Hall, in Turnditch. There was also a tombola and teas were served at the annual WI event.

Carol James, treasurer of WI, said: “It went very well. There was a nice, steady flow of people coming in all afternoon. I think the nice weather helped.”

The WI is hosting a car boot sale on Saturday, June 4. If you want to take part, ring Carol on 01773 826921.
