A BUMPER Christmas craft fair raised a magnificent £1,700 for a community centre in Belper.

The Strutts Christmas Craft Fair last Saturday, December 3, was packed with almost 70 stalls as funds were raised for the Strutts Centre, which is on Derby Road in the town.

One of the hoards of visitors said: “It was an excellent, enjoyable day. There were so many stalls and the quality of goods was very high.

“I have spent up! But I have had a great time.”

The Strutts Society events committee organised the event. They were thrilled with how it went.

Anne Sadler, chairman of the committee, said: “They would like to thank everyone who helped as volunteers on the day as well as the Rico Mexican Kitchen, who provided exciting food – and sold out - and all the stallholders too.”

The brainchild of the fair was Johan, one of the committee members, who said: “We’re looking forward to next year’s fair.”
